Scholarships that Change Lives of Python Playground Students

$325.00 raised
            of $25,000 goal
I’m D. S. Wasantha Jayathunge, founder of Python Playground. I’ve watched motivated learners master code and problem-solving—then struggle to continue because tuition, devices, or even transport are out of reach. With your help, we can turn “almost there” into admitted, supported, and graduated.
What Your Donation Supports
1) Direct Scholarships & Grants (up to $5,000 each)
Tuition, exam fees, textbooks, laptops, internet access, and essential student expenses for those with proven financial need.
2) Devices & Connectivity
Refurbished laptops, shared lab machines, and data packages so every student can learn, build, and submit work on time.
3) Learning Access for All
Servers, storage, and security to keep our online classes, mentor hours, and course materials free or discounted for students who cannot pay.
How We Select Scholarship Recipients (Platform-Compliant)
This is not a donor raffle, giveaway, or lottery. Donations do not influence eligibility or selection.
Eligibility: Current/previous Python Playground learners who submit a brief application and need verification (or community attestations where documents are hard to obtain).
Rubric: Financial need, commitment to study, learning progress, and community impact.
Tie-break only: If multiple applicants tie at the award boundary, we use a simple randomizer only to break ties—never as the primary method.
No purchase or donation required to be eligible—ever.
Transparency You Can Trust
Monthly updates: Recipient initials, program funded, and what was paid (e.g., “A.K., BSc Computer Science, Semester 1 tuition”).
Direct disbursement: Where possible, we pay universities, bookstores, or device vendors directly; otherwise, stipends are issued with documentation.
Annual summary: Totals by category, number of students funded, and anonymized impact stories.
Light governance: A small review panel (2–3 volunteers + 1 external advisor) validates rubric scores and tie-break logs.
Use of Funds (Target Allocation)
70% Scholarships & direct student support
15% Devices & connectivity grants
10% Learning infrastructure (servers, storage, security, mentor tools)
5% Administration & compliance (receipts, audits, safeguarding)
